medicare & payment guidelines

vna homecare logoCovering the cost of quality home care in central NY is easier than you think. VNA Homecare is authorized to bill third party insurance such as: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Managed Care, Medicaid and Medicare. As needed, we can also bill the patient directly. Payment methods include:

  • Medicare
  • Medicaid
  • Other Insurance
  • Private Pay (Out-of-pocket)
Patients qualify for Medicare coverage by being homebound, under the care of a physician, and in need of one of the following skilled services: nursing, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, or occupational therapy. Patients needing only personal or custodial (non-skilled) care will not qualify for Medicare home health benefits, but may be assessed for eligibility of the Long Term Home Health Care Program.
This coverage will also pay for patients requiring skilled or maintenance nursing care and/or rehabilitation services under physician’s orders, even if they are not homebound.
Most private insurance companies will pay for home health care. VNA Homecare will verify each patient’s coverage.
Of course, individuals and their families may pay privately for any home health care services.

How to Assure Eligibility

Referrals can be made directly from the physician, the hospital, the patient or family, or the community. For specific eligibility questions, contact VNA Homecare’s referral specialists at 315-477-HOME, or request information online.
